“Where are you? You were supposed to sneak out an hour ago.” I pressed my back against the cold wall, staring at the locked door like it might suddenly open. My voice cracked when I spoke. “He....he locked me in, Dominic.” There was silence. A heavy, suffocating kind that pressed against my ears until I could hear nothing but the thud of my own heartbeat. For a long, uncertain moment, I thought the line had gone dead. My hand trembled against the phone, the faint crackle of static the only sign that the world still existed beyond my walls. Then his voice came, low, sharp, and edged with fury. “What do you mean he locked you in?”

Her grip on the cane firm and unwavering. Refusing to answer. Refusing to acknowledge her violation. The rage that had been sitting cold in his chest started to heat. Started to burn hotter with every second of her defiant silence. But his voice stayed quiet. Controlled. The silence stretched unbearably. Heavy. Oppressive. Dangerous. "I'm waiting," he said softly. Behind him, Carmina shifted. Her cane tapped against the floor. Then she spoke. "No one." Her voice was tight. Hard. "No one gave me permission."

“You can’t keep me locked in here!” But there was no reply, only silence.

"Let the sunshine find us" Silence envelopes the whole room, suffocating silence. I could feel waves of anger, radiating from Ophelia, it was too much to bear. The intensity was beyond a regular person's reaction. I peer at her, through my tear-soaked eyelashes. She wasn't moving from her seat, staring blankly into space. I could feel the wheels in her head rotating, the reality sinking in, the pain unfolding. "Tell me your lying." She finally whispered. I stay silent, scared of her outburst.

The lock clicks. Sealing my fate.

Fast. Weapon raised. Aimed straight at Lira. Aristotle moves— But I’m faster. I step forward. Raise my hand. And everything— Stops. Not time. Not completely. Just them. Their bodies freeze mid-motion. Weapons suspended in the air. Eyes wide. Alive. Aware. Trapped. The room goes silent. Heavy. Controlled. Every single human— Locked in place. Every shadow inside them Exposed. Struggling. Fighting. Futile.

That silence was worse than the messages. At least when he texted… She knew he was there. Now— Nothing. A sudden ringing sound broke the silence. Maya’s phone. She looked at the screen and frowned. “I need to take this,” she said, stepping away. Aria nodded slowly. She watched as Maya walked into the other room. Her voice is low. Serious. Aria could not hear everything. Just small parts. “Now?” “…I said I am not there…” “…I will come back…”

Then she lowered her voice and whispered: "Since you are on duty." “Is that the fruit spritzer again?” Janik happily held out his empty glass to her and she filled it up with a nod. "You are probably telling each other everything?" She also filled Josh's glass and then said goodbye. She put the bottle on the trolley next to them. "She's to be smooched!" Janik grinned at his friend, who just had a smile on his face, but now looked at his friend disapprovingly. The latter raised his hands disarmingly. "It's okay, it's okay, it's yours."

Hendrik’s voice shot in my wildest thoughts. I shifted my eyes up, nervously staring at the unfamiliar faces seated on the couches. Each terrifying in a different way from another. I noticed there was only one woman amongst them who was in her middle thirties. She had her eyelids and mouth painted black. She somehow reminded me of Miss. Claws. “Hey guys! This is Rin and Rin these are my friends,” Hendrik introduced the four men and woman seated before us. I felt his hand violently pull me by my waist closer to him while he took a sip on his beer.

His tie was still knotted, but loosely, carelessly, as if even that small restraint was fraying under the pressure of his day. Their eyes locked. The silence that fell over them was thick, heavy, almost suffocating. Every second stretched longer, charged with words neither dared to speak aloud. Her mind raced and faltered at the same time, caught between the desire to retreat and the inexplicable pull to stay exactly where she was.
