The night was already creeping into silence, a chill infiltrating the air through the crack in the window of the small room occupied by the triplets. The dim nightlight illuminated their tiny faces, but a sudden low whimpering sound shattered the silence. Loudy, Lowly, and Lucille, all three had woken up looking sleepy and confused. "Mama..." whined Lucille softly, rubbing her eyes. "We want to stay here. We like it here."

This was after twelve, the kids would have been on the bed. I already message Liam that I would come in very late, I punched in the pin to the penthouse and then got inside. The lights were turned off and so I turned it on. The moment I did, I saw Liam on the couch with Maya on him and Mason beside him. The trio were asleep, Mason snuggled against his father's chest like he was a pillow.

Yawning, I slowly stretched my arms out as I rolled out of my warm and cosy bed, feeling oh so lazy. Making my way to the hallway, I paused to listen when I heard gentle murmurs in the air.

After all, it seemed like Lucas had no intention of turning them into zombies. "Go get me a room. I wanna hit the sack for now," said Lucas. Lora quickly ordered some men to arrange the biggest room for Lucas. Lucas immediately laid down on the bed after stepping into the room. Under the gigantic moon that was outside the window, Lucas gradually dozed off.

Lucas looked at Hugh but quickly took his eyes away. He frowned as he watched Hugh get into the makeshift emergency room. Hugh, however, didn't care about what Lucas thought. He got into the room and found Genevieve sleeping on her back. "Still acting, are you?" Hugh asked the obvious. His feet moved toward Genevieve as his right hand morphed into a fur-covered hand with claws.

Lucas’s POV. I woke to the sharp vibration of my phone against my palm. For a second, I didn’t know where I was. Then the low hum of the television registered, along with the faint rise and fall of two small chests in front of me. I blinked, lifting my head slowly. Jason was still asleep on the couch, one arm hanging loosely at his side. Henry lay beside him, their legs tangled together, cartoon voices murmuring softly in the background. They looked… peaceful as they slept.
