- I don't know why I felt in my heart that my mother wanted to say more than she did. This wasn't the first time in my life, but since my father died this has gotten worse. - Mom? In horror, I watch as she hurtles to the ground only for the biggest wolf I had ever seen, bar my own block my view and crouch beneath her, breaking her fall. A wolf I have never seen before. It takes me a few seconds to realize that it is Louis. “Um, I don't know about you,” Lisa whispers to me. “But there is now way that is an ordinary wolf.” I agree.

Louisa's POV Lucas frowned and said, "Unusual? You mean, other than you were drunk while beating the crap of five hobos?" "I mean... I remember that I saw something... Giant and black... The air grew colder, heavier. At the bottom was an iron door, half-covered in moss and carved with a wolf crest that pulsed faintly in the dark. Indra pulled a rusted key from her satchel and unlocked it with a soft click. The door creaked open. The room inside was quiet. No windows. One glowing crystal overhead bathed the space in pale blue light. In the centre of the chamber lay a massive white wolf, curled on a bed of velvet and stone. Her fur was thick, clean, and untouched by time. Her chest rose and fell with slow, steady breaths.

The wolf growled. “It is okay, Joel, He won't hurt me,” I tell Joel as the wolf approaches me and sits. His tail wraps around me. I am instantly relaxed. I rub my face in his fur and enjoy his warm. I feel safe, and I calm down. I am hit with the scent of sandalwood and citrus. Luka’s scent. “What?” I questioned out loud. I am his. He is mine. We are one. Like you and the white wolf. My eyes bug out of my head a bit. I want to ask questions.

The wolf's bay carried through the air. Lucas wasted no time running towards the sound. Certain this was it, one of his soldiers found something. His paws hit the snow as he sped forward, gearing himself up for a fight. The baying continued and started moving towards the lodge. Lucas shifted his path knowing the howling wolf decided the best thing was to regroup there. It didn't take long for Lucas to arrive. An all too familiar scent filled the air. The wolf who was howling arrived first, he continued to make the call drawing everyone back.

The air smelled like crayons and kid shampoo and that faint, indefinable pup‑scent that made her wolf settle even on the worst days. Luna was starfished across her little bed, one foot dangling out from under the blanket, wolf plush clamped under her chin. A new drawing lay on the nightstand, weighted by a plastic cup. Lyra picked it up carefully. Three wolves this time. One small, silver‑flecked, in the middle. One dark, teeth bared on the left—labeled, in wobbly letters, *mama*. One taller, with a crooked line for a leg and a big stick—labeled, painstakingly, *stoRm*.

She knocks on a door and a very pretty woman answers. I take one look at her, and I know she's a wolf. Confused, I asked her if I may speak to her for a few. She nods and then bares her neck. She must feel my Luna power. The hotel manager leaves us alone, and I say, " Hi, can i come in?" she nods and opens the door. An awkward silence follows, so i smile and say, "I'm Anna Luna of the Diamond Moon Pack. I was coming to check about these hotels because we had plans to use them. The lady explained that you guys don't seem to want to leave?" The woman looking at me still hasn't said a word, and I'm more than a little confused.
