I woke up to the incessant beeping beside me. I opened my eyes to see my sister weeping while my Stepmother consoled her. I groaned when I turned to stretch, “what’s going on?” I asked. My voice was raspy because I had been crying too much. My eyes darted to the glass of water beside my bed and my sister grabbed it.

He asked. "Give me a second to change, I’m just outside though". "Where were you bro?, We tried mind linking you through out yesterday, what's going on? I don't understand what's going on". "What is going on is that our Alpha has found us a Luna and he is too chicken to admit it". Lucien stared at Marcus who walked in through the door and just laid down on the couch with his eyes closed. "Is that good news?" Lucien asked as silence loomed over the house.

“Don’t start.” “Too late,” she replies, bumping her shoulder against mine. “You looked good up there, by the way. Like a real badass.” I huff a laugh, sipping the champagne. It’s crisp and cold, and I savor it, letting the bubbles settle some of the nerves still thrumming through me. Lucas appears then, his grin wide and obnoxious. “Our sister, the Alpha,” he says, throwing an arm around my shoulders. “Never thought I’d see the day.”

However, before Sanchez could express his gratitude, Lucian swiftly decapitated him. "That is your reward—a painless death, my friend," Lucian smirked. Lara approached Lucian, wrapping her arms around his waist. "I never cared for him. He talked far too much and deserved his demise. However, things are progressing too swiftly. How did the boy unlock his alpha powers?" "No, quite the opposite. Our plans are proceeding as intended," Lucian assured her, turning to face her fully. "We must accelerate our plans and ensure that no one discovers Adams's true identity as a genuine Alpha," Lucian declared.

My gaze flicked toward the car ahead. Lucas. He was the reason we were here. This morning, after Lilith had finally fallen asleep and we had at last been ready to lie beside her, to hold her, to cuddle, as Claude had called it, Abraham had mind-linked us. Lucas wanted to see us urgently. Said it was important. We had every intention of ignoring it. Until Abraham relayed Lucas’s next words. “He said it has to do with the former Beta. That he has found out something, Alphas.”

No one touches what is mine. Sensing the Alpha command in my tone, Lucas nodded and got up to leave. “I will check the perimeter.” He headed for the door…then stopped. “For what is worth? If you do want Lillian….fight for her. Before it is too late. I know it might be hard and rocky, given her family’s history, but you are Alpha.” The door clicked shut. And once again, I was alone. I took a deep breath and exhaled, thereby placing a crack in the mask I had on earlier. My reflection in the window showed a stranger—eyes glowing wolf blue and fangs bared.

A few minutes later and they were close to completely searching every nook and cranny, except for this room of course. I remember even hearing furniture moving and glass breaking. Are they searching or destroying everything in their path?! I chewed on my lip and kept silent up until they started to file out, the woman making it out before the others. “It seems Alpha doesn’t trust that she-wolf.” Lucas said as I heard him gently plop down on to the bed. I turned to look at him and held back a smile as I watched him barely manage to keep his butt situated at the edge of the bed.

Anna asked. I couldn't tell which way he'd come. The only thing I knew was that he was angry when I saw him. I was weak and couldn't process a lot of things, but I remembered Chrysantha had led me out of the room to Damion. "Luna Chrysantha is Alpha Henry's mate..." Anna pointed out in surprise.
