Then she looks at me, “You, okay?”
I smile, “Yeah.”
She leans into me more, and I look at her. The stars reflect faintly in her eyes. Seeing them sparkle in her eyes is making me fall deeper in love with her right now. And suddenly, Vegas doesn’t feel like a race anymore. Not really. Not entirely. Because sitting right here in this moment with her, I realize something. I’m not thinking about standing on podiums, or points, or sponsors. I am thinking about our house, family, concerts, a ring in my pocket, and a future. I look back up, praying to the night sky and to whoever is listening up there. Please let this work. Please let Vegas go the way I hope it will. Please let her say yes. Because
