Silent Howls
I exhaled slowly, leaning back against the pillows, staring at the faint crack in the ceiling as if it held answers.
“After enduring betrayal from my fated mate,” I said at last, my voice calmer than I felt, “I no longer know what real love is.”
The room felt heavier after that confession.
“I used to think love was intense,” I continued. “Possession. Fire. That if it didn’t consume me, it wasn’t real. But...”
