Before love Lies
“He really loves me.”
Her reply came without hesitation. “Yes. That much was obvious.”
Something in her tone shifted—just slightly. “Which is unfortunate.”
I closed my eyes.
Because that was when it broke.
Not shattered—broke. A slow, aching fracture deep in my chest, spreading outward until it was hard to breathe. All the years of training, all the discipline, all the lies I’d told myself about duty and purpose collapsed under one simple truth.
“I love him too,” I whispered.
