“Runner.” He didn’t comment, just pulled around the long circular drive and headed out to the main road. The campus was twenty minutes away without traffic, and for once I wished there was a mile-long pileup. I wanted to breathe in his scent for the rest of the night; hell…the rest of my life. Sable-haired babies; tall, coordinated athletes. We’d make the perfect children if they looked like their father. A laugh escaped my lips. Crazy. Running as far from the eyes of prying humans, not caring that my lungs are burning in anguish as hot tears of humiliation and heartbreak stain my face. After five minutes of aimless running I pray I am far enough away shifting into Viola, letting my large white paws pound into the earth as I pick up speed pulling me further away from the dinner where I found out my boyfriend is mated to my best friend. My utter despair allowing for a mournful howl to escape past my lips as I continue running further into the forest and away from my hurt.

I was, all of a sudden, very easy. "Well, if that's the way you're going to play it, I'll just go get the gardener." He pretended to walk away before I grabbed his arm and pulled him back to me. “No. I guess you will do. After twenty minutes attempting to sleep and failing, I decide to head down to the castle gym, I need to burn some energy. A hard run is what I need, so I set the treadmill and run until my lungs are burning and my legs begin to go numb. As I warm down, my thoughts turn to how things will change now. I know she loves me, but I wonder if she could, come to love Lance enough to keep him sweet. I know I must share her, but I’m still not completely at ease about it.
