"You could have just told me. We could have run together." "Run where?" he laughed, a bitter, dry sound. "The Vanes have eyes everywhere. The only way to win was to make them think I was broken. A man who has nothing left to lose is a man they stop watching. If you were with me, I would always have something to lose." "You still have me to lose," I said, leaning forward until my breath hit the back of his neck. "And you have... him. Or her." Lucian went rigid. He turned around suddenly, grabbing my wrists. His eyes were tortured, swirling with a storm of regret and desire.

"You can't hold me out of my will. You can't do that!" Henry chuckled. "Watch me." He simply waved at Martins and Lauren was dragged now towards the guest room. “Diana will never come back to you!” she shouted over her shoulder as she was pulled away. “Never!” Her laughter echoed down the hallway until the door shut behind them. Silence fell heavily over the living room. Henry stood there for a moment, breathing hard. Then the anger drained out of him, leaving something much worse behind. Regret. He exhaled slowly and sank back into the couch. His elbows rested on his knees as he stared down at the floor.

Caleb's finger had been cut by the metal edge of the gift box, and blood was seeping out. But he seemed to feel no pain, just staring blankly at my ring. "Uncle… he treats you very well," Caleb murmured, his voice thick. "Cliff roses, pink diamond rings, moonstone necklaces…" "He gives you everything I couldn't." I was silent for a moment, not quite understanding the depth of his regret. "Caleb, you chose to refuse two years ago," I said calmly. "It's too late to regret it now." "I know," Caleb gave a wry smile. "I just wanted to prove that I could also…"

He wanted to tear this heartless child apart, but he forced himself to hold back. What would it change? Even if he killed her, I was gone forever. It was too late. Kneeling in the snow, Lucian slapped his face again and again. This was his fault. He had believed Chloe's lies. Now, he regretted it, but I would never come back.

ENDING SCENE XENIA’S POV When the room emptied and I was alone again, I touched the surface of the table, running my fingers over the scratches and marks left from all our work. This table was no longer just wood. It was the heart of something living. Something the council couldn’t take away, no matter how hard they tried. And that was how Chapter Sixty ended — with a fire that no one could see, but everyone could feel.

His resentment was a palpable force, tangible and suffocating. My composure faltering for a moment I held his gaze with a mix of regret and defiance. "I never wanted this," I whispered, my voice filled with a tinge of remorse. "I didn't understand the true consequences of my actions. But I swear to you, Lucian, I will find a way to break this curse. I will set you free." My words hung in the air; a promise laced with determination. But to Lucian, they were hollow, mere words that offered no solace for the torment he endured. His nostrils flared as he fought to contain the fury within him.

“But don’t forget something, King. She chose me once.” Lucian’s eyes flashed. The air shifted instantly, thickening, darkening, like the sky itself was bracing. “Oh, I didn’t forget,” he said softly. “I remember every detail.” He took another step closer. “You rejected her. You replaced her. You let her bleed alone.” Each word was a blade. His voice sharpened. “You don’t get credit for regrets.” My wolf surged forward violently, snapping against my control. “That’s enough,” I growled. “Say one more word and……”

Eric did not dare say a word after getting lectured by Stella. Lowry, the driver, laughed happily when he saw Eric being taught a lesson. "Madam Stella, Mr. Chilton's place at home has been taken over since you married him. Who would have known that someone stoic as him would end up becoming a slave to his daughters?" Eric did not retort. All he did was shake his head in exasperation. Stella covered her mouth to sneak a laugh. She was all smiles. "Don't get tricked by his troubled face, Lowry. He's really enjoying it."
