After what felt like hours I found the 208. With a sigh I walked in to find Lucy on the bed. My breath hitched as I walked in talking in her state. Her face was filled with bruises, the area around her eyes dark. She had this pale look that I had seen countless times and I felt a cold feeling. “Lucy, this isn’t—You can’t just—She’s not just some girl from my past, she—” “So what?” Lucy cut in, spinning on her heel to face me. “She’s the woman who’s been stalking your life like she owns a part of it, pretending to be your friend and stealing your man behind your back, I certainly could not beat up Bryan but I can most definitely beat up his wife. She needs to hear you to back off. And if she can’t listen, she’ll deal with me.”

Tears run down on my cheeks as I stare at her. Even the people walking by could not help but glance her way.

My father too had controlled his glare at Lucy, as he already knew the years of trauma our mother had dealt with. I was furious when Lucy shared her college experience with us. You'd thing, knowing she had suffered would make me happy and satisfied. But no. It made me angry. I wanted to protect her, shield her from the cruelty of this world, even if she was one herself. The Thompsons, except for June, are slowly accepting Lucy into their fold, completely forgetting her sin. But, can i do the same? Can i really accept Lucy as my wife without throwing her past at her, with out wanting to see her hurt for everything she's done?
