Everything felt wrong.
“Stay close,” Ryan said.
I stepped beside him as we walked toward the main hall.
The guards at Nightshade bowed low as we passed. Their eyes flicked to me with curiosity.
I lowered my gaze, trying to keep my breathing steady.
Inside, a tall man greeted us with a polite smile that didn’t quite reach his eyes.
“Lycan King,” he said, bowing. “It is an honor.”
Ryan gave a short nod.
“And the Luna,” he added, his gaze lingering on my covered face. “Welcome,” he said. “I trust your journey was safe.”
