“A father deserves to know his son.” My mother touched his arm. “Let her go.” He hesitated before he released me. “She needs a clear head,” my mother added softly. I bowed deeply to them both. “I won’t fail.” As I left the study, my father’s words followed me down the corridor, heavy and unresolved. Jakeson is Luca’s father. I pushed it down. I needed to get my head in the game. Now was not the time. I met Kaelan and Jakeson at the eastern exit minutes later.

“Where is he?” Anakin’s jaw locked. He tried to pull away gently. “Cassie—” “Where. Is. Xeros?” He looked around—like he was searching for help that wasn’t coming—then down at the floor. His voice came out rough. “You’re not supposed to be here.” “I know what my father did,” I said, and my voice cracked on the last word. “I know about the letter. Forcing my voice to sound casual, I asked, "Is there something you know that I don't?" Luke paused. Then, his gaze became meaningful. "I only know that the person who assigned Jim to go undercover was my father." My heart skipped a beat. "And that woman he brought back." Luke lowered his voice before continuing, "Her file's completely blank. She's not the informant mentioned in his official reports at all."

The laughter from earlier still seemed to linger in the air, but a more contemplative mood settled over us. "What's Luke's family like? It seems like he was here pretty often." Elena's expression softened, and her eyes clouded over as if she were turning the pages of a bittersweet chapter from her past. "His father owns the land to the north of us. But honestly, the man doesn't have a paternal bone in his body. Luke's mother passed away, giving birth to his younger brother. After that, Luke became somewhat of a lost soul. He was here more often than not. His father threw money at him, and still does from what I am hearing, but he will never understand that really isn't parenting."

I don't know if my Father was capable of hurting Luke, but then I know he was capable of hurting people. I don't know how he will react if he finds out that Luke has betrayed him. I just don't want him to end up being in trouble. My father wasn't a good person and he wasn't to be messed around with as well. He was among the people who I suspected had something to do with Zara Maria's death.

Even though he and Xander didn't have that father and son relationship, he was still his son,losing him was still very painful. Seeing the dazed look on Pius's face as the warriors took Xanders body away from the hall, Lucas went over to Pius,and he started to explain everything, from Skyler's kidnap till this very moment, he wanted to clear every misunderstanding or doubt from Pius's mind.

I nodded at my father, “I’m in love with Darren though Dad, I wish he were here right now. He’s the one I remember being with.” My dad shook his head, “Darren isn’t a good person Kay, you ran from him when you were pregnant with Jeremy, a few months ago he nearly beat you to death and killed yours and Steve’s baby. You were pregnant, you were such a mess Kay.” I shook my head, “I believe you, it’s just hard to believe I remember him being so sweet and gentle. Talking about pregnant, the doctor told me I’m pregnant. Is Steve the father?” My father smiled, “Yeah I’m pretty sure he is anyways, like I said you don’t tell me this stuff he would be the one to ask. Just give him a chance to talk.”
