Did you think you could leave all of us, just like that?” the Luna demanded quietly, her tears falling on Reyland’s face. “Did you imagine I would hear of such folly and leave you be? I will never allow such carelessness, little prince, never,” she croaked, still whispering. Marian almost thought Reyland was crying, as tears rolled down his face. But they were all from the Luna as she wept in a way Marian envied – out in the open, without restraint, but yet, with such poise and dignity that she almost looked like a work of art – some Madonna weeping over her dead lover.

The luna smiled from her sleep, her daughter was sent from the heavens. She smiled at the girl who also smiled in return before going to dispose of the now-warm water and towel. Caia then got back in bed with her mother wrapping a tiny arm under her bosom. Mother and daughter went back to sleep like that until wet kisses woke up the luna. She smelt him before she saw him. Fresh wintermint scent with side tones of a loamy musty smell infiltrated her nose. When she opened her eyes, deep red ones stared back at her in love.

She wiped a tear that fell from her eye. I didn’t know whether to believe she was being genuine or not, but the look on her face told me she was. It was hard to fake devastation like that. “I did have feelings for Xander. I really did. He was everything I wanted in a mate but those feelings got overshadowed by my need to become Luna and it turned me into someone I’m not proud of. It didn’t help that my mother was pressuring me too.

"Come. Sit." I sat. She looked at me the way she always did, like she could see straight through whatever face I had decided to wear tonight. "How was the ceremony?" she asked. "Wonderful," I said. "Very glamorous. Very expensive. Very not us. Elder Mara wore her good robes. The ones without the gravy stain. So you know it was a special occasion." My mother's mouth curved. "And?" "And Victoria Hale is going to be Luna." I kept my voice light. "The whole pack is very excited. Someone released actual flower petals into the air Mama. With their hands. Like they had nothing better to do with them."

Please. “My Luna,” after a few minutes which felt like an hour, I opened my eyes and raised my head up to have a glimpse of his honey brown eyes which were smiling back at me as if reflecting the smile on my face. He raised his hand, wiping the tears off my cheeks making me chuckle at the fact of him being in such a condition and still caring about the tears on my face. “Why crying when you know I don’t like tears in your eyes?”

Aaron put his hand upfront while trying to calm me down, like I am some kind of wild animals or something, “Look, we are sorry, okay, I don’t think that you could.” “I am calm, just furious… Fine! I am furious in a civil kind of way, happy?!” I huffed my breath, and then glaring at the three of them. “Look, just tell me, what the hell is this plan of yours? Do I really could magically become a luna? Or probably getting me a license? I thought luna is a gift by the Moon Goddess, just like Alpha?”

"Doctor, what on earth happened?" Marcus, Dr. Madison, and I fill her in on everything we know so far. Liam is leaning against the door, which he had closed behind the Luna, looking serious and worried. "My god," the Luna says, reaching up to wipe away the tears that are starting to trickle down her cheeks. "I've been a goddamn fool." I'm shocked.
