Laura said sarcastically, then walked off without a backward glance. Now, only three people remained in the room—father, daughter, and mother. “I still don’t understand how you could suggest something like that,” said her mother, Elena. Luna stayed silent. Tears filled her eyes again as bile rose in my throat. “Did you hear anything else?” I asked, trying to keep my voice calm. “No, once they realized I was there, they….” “That’s okay, you don’t have to tell us.” I said as I gathered my thoughts. “So there are no ranking women?” “No, even Alpha Rip’s Luna. Rachel's POV Clayton rushes to the window and peeks out again. "Fuck!" He hisses under his breath. He walks away and runs both hands through his blonde hair. I step to the window and look around. I see a girl crying and stumbling across my yard. She is heading towards the pack house! She has long black hair that is braided back. I can make out leaves and tiny little twigs clinging to the braid as she gets closer. Something wet is matted to the side of her face. I squint to get a better look at her. Something seems so familiar about her, but it's too hard to make out who she is. One of her eyes is swollen shut. Her cheeks are red and damp from tears and sweat. Blood is dripping down her nose

Cohen says, standing and reaching for me. I step back, as I lose the battle with my tears and one drops down my cheek. “I’m so sorry,” I say to him before turning to the room. “I’m so very sorry.” I turn and race from the room, embarrassed and ashamed that I’m such a terrible Luna.

I continue to cry as she smiles at me encouragingly. “But that’s exactly what mates are here for. They are here to love and comfort us. Being a Luna doesn’t mean to be stoic and emotionless. There was only a huge hole where his gentle heart should have been. “No…no, no.” Her voice cracked. “This is not real, if this is a nightmare, then someone please wake me up.” She shook him with tears blurring her sight. “Wake up Kael.Please—wake up.” Her Luna mark—a thin crescent that was burned into her wrist—flared with white-hot pain.She screamed. 8. Luna had been waiting for Lucas for almost two hours. She had also finished five cups of coffee that made her stomach bloat, waiting for Lucas. However, that guy did not come.
