“Who tells you that? Can you show me the particular people who find it important to run you down?” She nods again, then her face breaks into a smile. “Are you going to fight for me, Luna?” I smile back at the bundle of cuteness before me. “Someone has to.” I stretch an arm out. “Come here.” She doesn't hesitate to answer my call. She hurries forward and places the bowl in her tiny hands on the drawer beside my bed before she climbs in to lie in my arms. I admire her. She is utterly beautiful. Her skin is a polished ebony that glitters under any form of light and has an eternal glow to it. Her hair is an equal shade of black, but curly and wild sitting on her head in an untamed heap.

, I added. Her smile widened at that as she rose to her feet. “I’m afraid I do not even know your cousin, Luna”, she said. “Pray tell, what does she look like?” She asked. I hummed as I pretended to think for a moment. “Well she is very beautiful”, I said, hoping to make her smile more, but her smile only dimmed. “She has lovely dark hair and a skin almost as white as snow”, I said, my smile slowly dying. “And always hides from everyone. Even me”, I said.

“It's so nice to meet you.” I couldn't stop smiling. “I didn't know there were so many of us.” I admitted. They laughed. “Neither did I when I first became a Luna,” one of them said. We introduced ourselves, and before long, the conversation became surprisingly comfortable. One of the women told us how difficult it had been for her before she became Luna. She had spent years worrying about her appearance and trying different ways to change herself because she believed she needed to look a certain way to be worthy of her mate. Eventually, she realized that the person she married loved her exactly as she was.

I could hear in my own words just how arrogant I sounded. “My name is Beta Devon, Luna.” He bowed his head once more. “Alpha, Beta, Luna… I feel like I have stepped into some cheesy Greek teenage fantasy drama! I didn’t want any of this, you know. The titles. The turning into a wolf the moment the full moon appears.” I couldn’t help myself. I was acting like a petulant child. But I just didn’t care. Lily administered the dose before she removed Luna's clothes for my examination. It might not have taken me more than ten minutes to capture the minor details but it was an eye-pleasing sight. I turned away from her to look in the mirror and my breath caught in my throat. She had outdone herself, I looked amazing. My white-blonde hair had been left down in loose waves with two intricate fishtail plaits, one on either side. My makeup had been done with green and blue eyeshadow to bring out my eyes. I was born with heterochromia so had one green eye and one blue. The eye look has been completed with a soft black cat eye eyeliner and my lips had been left a nude shade to leave the focus on my eyes.

“...is how full you can be with so little slenderness.” I blinked. Caelora nearly choked on a cough behind me. “I beg your pardon?” I asked, not offended—yet. Just confused. Luna flushed faintly, which made her look like a blushing cloud. “No offense meant, truly. You see, I’ve never met a human before. We’ve only ever seen paintings. And I must admit—your... proportions are unexpected. But striking.” I laughed, a small, surprised sound. “Humans come in all shapes. Where I’m from, beauty isn’t measured by bone.”

It's all lace bodice, falling to the floor in pooled material thats whispering around my ankles. I chose not to wear any shoes. Yes, Calley found that unusual but I hate shoes, how they confine my my feet and hurt my toes.
