I tried not to think about it. Maurice’s Batman onesie was better than anything in the boxes, so he didn’t bother taking anything, but while I was trying on stuff, he went over to speak to Grayson. After a brief discussion, Grayson opened a drawer in his desk and extracted a handful of spectacles, which Maurice tried until a pair seemed to work for him. They had thick black frames and some kind of wrapping on the middle bit where they were obviously broken. Less than a day and Maurice had already levelled up from nerd to dork. If there was an uber-geek achievement to be won, he was well on his way to claiming it.

When they all walking the door slammed shut behind them. It made her stand out. I was surprised to see she wore glasses. Photochromic lenses obscured her eyes, but they seemed to be the most interesting shade of bluey green. Said glasses didn’t appear to be a prop or some fashion statement either. They seemed to be corrective lenses. What the fuck? Wolves didn’t suffer declines in vision.

The door opened. Inside, the music was muffled. The air was sterile and cold. It was a high-tech lab. Monitors lined the walls, displaying complex protein structures. In the center, sitting in a dentist's chair, was a man with a neon-green mohawk, tattoos covering his face, and a lab coat over a leather vest. He was eating a doner kebab with one hand and typing on a holographic keyboard with the other. Dr. Klaus. The Mad Scientist of Berlin.

They all wore spectacles or goggles to hide their eyes during the night. Once within reach, we waited for Sara, who came back a minute later. She wore a workout legging and a baggy t-shirt with her red hair tied in a messy bun. She has also added rose gold-rimmed glasses and a fake septum piercing to give her a bitchy look.

Dr Makovsky stood behind the see-through screen, his expression bored as he watched a lab assistant infuse his serum into a screaming girl. He looked as he always had: his white hair and moustache giving him an eerie Einstein look. He wore a crisp waistcoat under a starched-white lab coat and his hands were deep in its pockets. "Nothing as feral as I would like" He said. His voice rose above the screams of the girl and the assistant looked up. "Should we give them more doses, then?" The assistant asked.

Some were big enough to house a huge wolf while some were smaller in size. The large glass containers had water inside that seemed to be boiling. There were body parts inside each of them. I saw eyeballs in one container. Another had fangs. Some have hands. There were many of them with different body parts inside. The sight made me want to puke but I contained myself and looked ahead. I was not alone in the room. A man was moving about the table and testing things. He wore a white lab coat and a huge pair of glasses. I guessed that he was the mad scientist behind all the creepy body parts in the lab.

With a childish grin, he pushed it open and allowed her to walk in ahead of him. The room was larger than she would have expected, with a number of stainless-steel workstations, all with microscopes, computers and an array of tools and equipment she had never seen before. The walls were encased in frosted glass panels which allowed light to filter through, but no spectators to see in. Above each workstation hung a large florescent light and the half dozen workers turned to watch them approach, all in hospital type lab coats. Their shoes were hidden with blue covers and they wore dark blue gloves and white masks over their noses and mouths. Sandra smiled. It looked like something straight out

JOSH POV “Do you want to know what this is?” Maddie doesn’t wait for his answer, she keeps going while holding up the object between her thumb and index finger for him to see it. “THIS is one of my personal inventions. It looks… harmless. Right?
