Hanggang sa huminto sila sa harap ng isang tree house na para bang hinugot mula sa isang lumang fairytale. Matibay ang pagkakagawa nito. May hagdang kahoy na halatang pinakinis at pininturahan ng kulay kape, at sa loob ay may mga kurtinang gawa sa manipis na tela na hinahaplos ng malamig na hangin ng gabi. Sa paligid, may mga parol na nakasabit sa sanga ng puno, nagbibigay ng malambot na liwanag na tila yumayakap sa buong estruktura.

This whole place was starting to look like a maze. “I just have to get out of here soon,” he mumbled to himself. He wasn’t a fan of books, but he was going to do all he could to make sure that he found the truth. Finally, he settled on 4 big books that were laced with images of tree monsters. They were actually a thing, and it was crazy that no one had realised this till now. He pulled the books to the nearby table and dumped them on it. One had a lock, and he skipped that since he didn’t have a key. Focusing instead on the other smaller books.

"Junior sweetheart, how's your painting coming along? Is it almost done?" Junior looked up. He smiled widely at the sight of his mother. "Mama! Look, I'm almost finished. This is a tree. This is flowers. And this is grass." Clarissa crouched beside Junior. She studied the painting with a proud expression. "Oh, it's beautiful sweetheart. The colors are so bright. You'll definitely get a good grade." Junior's smile widened. "Thanks, Mama." Clarissa stroked Junior's head gently. "May Mama sit here and keep you company?"

Not a house, not yet, but the beginning of one. I set the phone aside and picked up Mera’s sketchbook from the table. The page she’d left open had a drawing of a spaceship again this time, it had three little stick figures inside. Two big ones, one small and all of them where smiling. I wasn’t sure if that meant anything but I wanted it to.

“That’s it! I quit. I suck.” I turned to look at what she was making. She had gotten 20% of the starting drawing right, but in time lost touch of everything. I laughed lightly and took the book for inspection. The pages fluttered, and behind the unfinished busy subway, I saw a few more colourful drawings and sketches. I turned the page, and was greeted by the sight of a huge green tree. At first glance it looked really majestic. Because all you will notice at first are the thick heavy branches. But in time, when you keep looking, you will see the differences.

The air shimmered with an ethereal glow, and the ancient symbols etched on the tree's trunk pulsed with a gentle luminescence. In a whispered murmur, almost imperceptible, the Heartwood seemed to communicate—a silent language that transcended words. Images, vivid and fleeting, flickered in our minds—a montage of werewolves and vampires coexisting in harmony, shared territories flourishing with unity, and the laughter of children born from the extraordinary love we shared.

"Don't beat yourself up too hard. You were just a kid yourself. She's healthy, she's happy." She's alive. They edged the tree line and he grinned. Raven stood at the base of the tree house, gawking up at the structure. "I'll have you know, this is no tree house. This is a Pinterest board." He laughed. It was pretty fantastic. Around the base of a thick spruce was a thin, winding staircase that led to a small platform twenty feet up. The tree house was designed to resemble a much smaller version of the main house and was held up by four thick beams. All four walls had windows and insulation.

"Here, let me show you something. Not about power, but about life." He turned a page, and my gaze fell upon an intricate drawing. It wasn't of a wolf or a battle, but of a sprawling, ancient tree, its roots reaching deep into the earth, its branches reaching for the sky. Tiny, luminous specks of light seemed to drift from its leaves.

"I've spent the last several weeks observing the tree." He opened the notebook. Every page contained sketches. Runes. Timetables. Magical fluctuations. Even weather conditions. Hunter had documented everything. He pointed toward one of the drawings. "The tree isn't alive." Chaos smiled. "I knew it." Hunter continued. "It's a magical construct." "It only imitates a living tree." Order, who had silently appeared behind us, leaned over the pages. "The roots..." Hunter nodded. "They aren't roots." "They're channels." I frowned.

The other children were busy working on their assignments, but Hibiki’s mind was already somewhere else—he had been thinking about the treehouse he had drawn at home the night before. His teacher, Mrs. Nakamura, had asked them to draw something that represented their imagination, and Hibiki had spent the entire evening sketching a dreamlike treehouse—one with twisting vines, brightly colored windows, and a ladder made of vines that seemed to lead straight to the clouds. The treehouse was a magical place, a world of possibilities where adventure could happen at any moment.
