Meine beste Freundin Ada hatte Mitleid mit mir, weil ich seit acht Jahren in Theo verliebt war. Als unsere Wölfe einander als Gefährten erkannten, gab Ada mir einfach ein krafterhöhendes Kraut und schickte mich in Theos Bett. Berauscht von meinem Duft, hat Theo mich wie ein Besessener beansprucht. Als ich am nächsten Morgen aufwachte, erklärte er kühl, dass er der Markierungszeremonie zustimmte. Doch schon kurz nach der Markierung reiste Theo immer wieder zu Rudeln nach Europa und blieb ganze fünf Jahre lang weg. Ich zog unseren Sohn Alex allein groß und wartete im Rudelhaus auf seine Rückkehr. Aber er kam nie zurück und sagte mir nur, dass er keine Welpen möge. Bis zu Alex’ Geburtstagsfeier, als ich ein Video sah, in dem ihm jemand eine Frage stellte: „Theo, was war dein glücklichster Moment?“ Er antwortete gleichgültig: „Letzte Woche in Europa, nachdem ich Marcus ins Bett gebracht hatte, habe ich Claire mit an den Esstisch im Wohnzimmer genommen.“ Zwischen Pfiffen und Jubel wurde mir plötzlich eiskalt an Händen und Füßen. Claire war seine Ex-Freundin, Marcus ihr Sohn. Man erzählte, Theo habe die letzten fünf Jahre mit ihnen in Europa gelebt – also stimmte alles. Mein Herz war vollkommen gebrochen. Ich reichte beim Alpha-Rat die Auflösung der Gefährtenbindung ein und verließ Nordamerika mit meinem Sohn. Unsere Rudelregistrierung ließ ich löschen.

„Frau Stein, gemäss Ihrer Anfrage haben wir eine Leiche vorbereitet, die Ihnen bis ins kleinste Detail gleicht. Diese werden wir in zehn Tagen an den Ort Ihrer Hochzeitszeremonie mit Herrn Meyer liefern“, erklärte der Mitarbeiter am anderen Ende der Leitung. Mias nervöse Anspannung, die schon Tage anhielt, ließ nach endlich ein wenig. „Danke schön.“ „Gern geschehen, das ist unsere Pflicht. Machen Sie sich keine Sorgen – niemand wird an der Echtheit dieser Leiche zweifeln.“ Nach dieser Garantie seufzte Mia erleichtert. Noch einmal ging sie mit dem Mitarbeiter die Details für den Liefertag der Leiche durch. Nachdem sie die Leitung gelegt hatte, öffnete sie die Tür zum Privatzimmer. Bisher war das Zimmer voller Lärm, doch im Moment, in dem sie eintrat, erstarrte die Stimmung. Alle schauten sie an – kein Laut war mehr zu hören.

He lowered his head and angrily placed a kiss on my lips, I had felt the passion, love and compassion in his previous kisses but right now he was venting out all his anger. He bit my lower lip hard until it was completely swollen and began to bleed, I wanted to cry in pain but he didn't give me a chance and his tongue pried my mouth open and with the help of it he pulled my tongue into his mouth and then bit my tongue. At this moment he was completely consumed by anger and out of his senses, I wanted to use my magic to get rid of him but I could not do that too as he had one of my wrists twisted which was now turning numb with pain and the other was pinned above my head against the wall. Soon his fangs pierced my tongue and this time finally a sharp painful shout left my throat and hit his lips. My lips were now trembling and I just wanted to push him away but as much as I tried that, he kept pushing his body against mine making me loose my mind completely. My painful voice brought him back to his senses and his lips and teeth finally left my mouth, tears flowed through my eyes due to the pain and I looked at him angrily that was when he finally spoke "I told you to be careful but you do every possible thing to rile me up. Your scent is completely different from every person on this earth, it is so appealing and inviting that anyone can find you and that means that no matter how hard you try, you can't escape from me."
