Tessa’s POV The first thing I realize as I stare into the eyes of the man who rescued me is that he’s definitely not Evander. In fact, this man couldn’t be further from Evander if he wanted to be. Where Evander’s hair is jet-black and wavy, this man has a beautiful heap of blond curls that gleam like spun gold. Where Evander’s eyes are cold and hazel, this man’s are a warm chocolate brown. And where Evander’s mouth is always pursed into an almost-frown, this man smiles down at me as he helps me to my feet.

"Mag, I think you should slow down. My maid is a weak omega — she could die of fear." My fist clenched. This bitch. Her voice trembled like she was the one who was scared, but she threw it onto me. Magnus looked at me through the mirror, our eyes collided. Something flickered in his eyes, like guilt, but his gaze shifted back to the road. After a few moments, he lowered the speed. My brows knitted tighter. Did he really do that for me? I was still wondering when he said, "Are you okay, Chole?"

"Going where you weren't invited. Sticking your nose where it doesn't belong." Fear shot through me. I backed up until I hit the wall, right beneath one of the portraits. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean—" "You never mean to," Magnus said, reaching me. His hand shot out and grabbed my jaw, forcing my head up to meet his gaze. "But you do it anyway. Curious little omega. Always asking questions with those big eyes. Always pushing boundaries." His other hand fisted in the robe and yanked, tearing it open. I gasped as cool air hit my naked skin.

She also learned from Lucifer that Declan supported a number of charities for street children, and according to Magnus, Declan was particularly interested in animal welfare. Reaching the arena, I am drawn to watch Magnus shift back to human. His lion form is beautiful. Slender golden brown with its flat mane to match, not darkened by age yet. After his stunning display, I’m craving his human body now. Magnus shifts back to human form while I watch. His muscular body flexes while he puts on just his shorts. He throws the shirt over his shoulder. He’s sweaty all over, and I can smell him. Not bad at all, almost like chocolate.

Chase asks as his head faces forward to see the beautiful hummingbird with the bleeding heart plant. “Because I love this painting, and I can’t stop thinking about it. Plus, I want Mom and Dad’s opinion of it and see what they think about if I buy the painting about hanging it up in my future office at headquarters.” I tell him as I look at him and poke my tongue out to him. With me pulling a face at Chase, he laughs and pulls out his phone and takes a picture of the painting before sliding the phone back into his pocket. “There now I have a picture of it so I can tease you about this thing any time I want.” Chase then pulls the same face I gave to him back to me. This time, I laugh at him.

Today of all days, being asked to create art about vulnerability feels like a cosmic joke.
