My eyes widened, scanning the swirling white vapor. Slowly, a towering, massive figure materialized out of the fog, walking directly toward me. It was Bane. A momentary wave of relief washed over me, but it vanished instantly when he stepped into the dim light of the vanity mirror. His eyes weren't calm. They were pitch-black, blown wide with a dark, primal and incredibly serious look as if I were a threat that had just breached his final line of defense. As the fog swirled and parted around him, my breath completely left my body. My jaw dropped, my jade-green eyes stretching to their absolute limits.

Fane closed the door but he was still standing in the room. “You... I’m telling you to get out!” Magnus was fuming. Was there something wrong with this young man’s brain? Could he not comprehend simple words?
