We sat quiet.
Malek finally moved, left the treeline, and settled down on his own platform. Tilted his head back, looking up through the leaves. His amber eyes caught the light even from up here.
“Well,” he said, not to anyone in particular, just to the forest, morning, and whatever roamed the deep trees to the north. “That’s new.”
