(Amon's description) I opened my mouth to scream for help when the man grabbed me by the throat. "Shh. I tucked her into bed and said gently, "Tomorrow, you'll go to your new school and make new friends. Let's leave all the unhappy things behind us, okay?" Yvette nodded. In the picture, Harold was listening intently to a doctor in a white coat, while Jacob sat obediently beside him.

“Brandon. Nice to finally put a face to the name.” Brandon hesitated then shook his hand, “Likewise.” Scott was next. He clapped a hand on Brandon’s shoulder with a shit-eating grin. “Ah, the infamous big brother. I gotta say, I love the disapproving scowl. It’s a classic.” Brandon just stared at him, unimpressed. “And you are?” “Scott Mancini,” he introduced himself, grinning. “Married, father of two, criminal mastermind.” Brandon’s frown deepened.

However, I had left a small lamp on tonight, casting a warm, dim light in the room. Finally, I could see his eyes more clearly. They were dark brown and surprisingly innocent-looking. They reminded me of Ryan’s eyes. Ryan had that same innocent look, but his eyes were black. Hence, the man definitely wasn’t Ryan. The fear from the night before was gone, and I found myself studying him closely from the safety of my blankets.

Every corner of the fortress seemed alive with anticipation, as if the walls themselves knew what was coming. Ryan Blackthorne joined her silently, his dark eyes scanning the horizon. Though his body bore scratches and bruises from the previous night’s battle, his stance was unyielding, resolute, and commanding. He reached out and took Amelia’s hand, a grounding touch amidst the chaos. “They won’t wait,” he said, voice low but firm. “This is it—the full assault.” Amelia swallowed hard, her pulse racing. “We’ve survived so far… but I can feel it, Ryan. They’re stronger this time. Smarter. Coordinated.”
