The Fire That Chose Me
she said, voice low.
He grinned wider. “We’ll see.”
Aiden moved first fast, silent. But the man was faster
Then something inside her snapped.
She screamed.
Not out of fear out of power.
The fire erupted from her hands, gold and wild, and slammed into the man like a wave. He flew backward, crashing into the trees, smoke curling from his chest.
He didn’t move again.
Aiden stared at her, breathless. “You called it.”
Evelynn stood panting, her hands glowing faintly, the forest whispering her name.
