He was here for me. When we finally settled down into our usual circle, Linda Lively's book was opened, I noticed the way Kael handled his copy. Like it was something worth respecting, worth holding carefully. It made me smile. “Kael,” April said suddenly, her grin mischievous, “why don’t you read for us?” I half expected him to decline. To smirk and shake his head like reading aloud was beneath him. But instead, he nodded. Took the book and cleared his throat.

He replied, now continuing on reading the book in his hand. I glanced at the book that he’s reading. Based on the title, A Guide to a Perfect Shot, it’s obvious that it’s a book about photography Why is he reading it? Now my curiosity just got bigger. I was about to open my mouth to ask him, but thought about it and knew it was not a good idea. At least, not now. He seems so focused on reading it and I'm just bothering him.

His beady red eyes scan the content and he sits on a couch to quietly read it. Nodding, Nol begins to follow the man while I hurry along behind them until we’re standing in a room with many books. "Have a seat," the man calls, beginning to rummage around one of the shelves until he locates a book. "Since you’re an impatient man, I suppose we should get right down to business." Nol doesn’t respond as he plops down while the man makes his way to the other side. Once we’re both sitting, the man plops down across from us and puts the book on the desk between us. "This," he begins, pushing the book closer to us. "Should be what you’re looking for."

I looked up. Adrian stood there in the doorway. He looked at me, his eyes moved around the room, he stepped in, and walked to the shelves. His finger moved slowly over the books, until one caught his attention, he pulled it out, read the back, and held it. He looked at the empty armchair across from mine, he just sat down and opened his book. I watched him settle into the chair, he crossed one leg over the other, unhurried and completely at ease. I looked at the angle of his jaw, the line of his shoulder, and how he held his book while he read.
