Pain flared hot, and I stumbled.
Fenrir caught me instantly. “Selene!”
The glow of his magic washed over me, burning away the pain, but the burn left a lingering ache.
Gabriel shouted, “It’s coordinating with the illusions! Focus on the real target!”
I looked up, trying to separate reality from the copies. Fenrir’s eyes blazed, a clear beacon in the confusion. That’s how I knew, he was the constant, the anchor to all of this. I drew a deep breath, pulsing energy through the book at my hip, sending the illusions scattering.
