I committed both to memory, then moved toward a motorcycle that had been knocked on its side during the battle. I righted it, checked the fuel gauge, and mounted in one fluid motion.
"Sir, you shouldn't go alone," the senior beta protested. "Protocol requires—"
"I work alone," I cut him off, kick-starting the engine. "Keep my brother alive until I return."
Without waiting for a response, I gunned the engine and sped away, leaving a cloud of dust in my wake. The Red Claw compound was my target, and nothing would stop me from retrieving those documents.
