Deep maroon, the colour of deep red wine, of midnight, of something dangerous and unmistakably expensive.
It was a mini dress, shorter than anything I’d ever worn to work before. Mid-thigh length, with long sleeves and sharp, structured shoulders that gave it an edge. The back had lace-up straps designed to be tied in crosses, the kind of detail that was both elegant and just a little bit provocative.
It was beautiful.
But it was also a bit too far from professional. One might mistake it for a date night outfit rather than something you’d wear to sign a client
Still, I didn’t mind.
