Marinette huffs as she rushes back towards the room and hisses, “If you woke Marigold up, so help me god!” She opens the door and I hear a woman’s voice say, “Marinette, are you crazy?” I stand up when I hear the woman’s harsher tone and when she sees me she gasps, “Your Highness.” I sigh, “Can I help you?” “Um-I-uh.” Marinette has a smug edge to her voice as she asks, “Are you going to question me about my company now, Lauren?” Lauren’s voice instantly softens as she says, “Marinette, I’m trying to look out for you. Come on, we’re friends and Chase isn’t happy with you right now.”

He wanted one woman, and when he had her, he foolishly let her slide from his grasp. Way to go Xander. Xander groaned inwardly when he saw one of the ladies approaching. He straightened as she came close. “Mr. Xander,” she said, sashaying her hips and Xander stared at her coolly. “Yes?” He said and she smiled. He knew that smile all too well—she wanted him to go all the way with her. “I am Chloe,” she said and Xander offered a robotic smile. “Nice to meet you, Chloe, is there anything I can help with,” he said. Chloe leaned in beside him.

"Oh, I knew I smelled strawberry and privilege up here!" Chloe rounded the corner of the ferns. She had changed out of her ruined, pink-stained Chanel blouse and was now wearing an equally offensive, outrageously expensive champagne-colored silk halter top and matching wide-leg trousers. She looked immaculate, holding a crystal glass of white wine in her hand. But the moment her eyes landed on us—specifically on Dani hovering over me on a picnic blanket—her bright, fake smile faltered. Her eyes narrowed into sharp, icy slits.

Gosh, my mother is going to kill me when she finds out. I couldn’t go too far as I bumped into something hard and nearly fell on the ground. Someone grabbed me then held me up. I looked up and found myself looking into a pair of piercing grey eyes that belonged to none other than Logan Hill. “Marina? What are you doing here? Why are you running?” he asked. He looked at my distraught face. His eyes narrowed. “Um…well…I’m on a date,” I stammered. “Is that right?” he asked and stared at me intently. “So, where is your date?”

Chloe. Calling.

“You… what?” Chloe smiled, though her eyes watered. “The black Maserati you saw parked outside? That’s mine, too. And I’m not stopping there.” She leaned forward, her voice brimming with a pride she hadn’t felt in years. “I’m launching a luxury cosmetics and skincare line. It’s already in motion. Branded exclusively under my name: Chloe Luxe.” Angela blinked, her lips parting soundlessly as if she hadn’t heard right. Melinda and Diana exchanged a small smile in the corner, Zoe grinning ear to ear like she might burst.
