“Not even close, sweetheart.” Sherry felt her heart sink. “Just… don’t throw me out,” she said softly, trying to keep her voice steady. Dallion’s expression shifted, a smirk tugging at the corner of his mouth, and after a pause, he laughed. “Relax, little mouse. I’ve got something much more entertaining in mind than tossing you into the cold night.” Walking to his bedside, he reached for a small book from a drawer. Its cover was beautifully engraved, and Sherry’s stomach flipped when she recognized it. The title on the cover indicated it was a script for a mafia drama often performed for high society events.

The humanoid creature look at her in a straight face before it warp into something amusing. “HAHAHHAHAHAHHAHA” the humanoid creature laugh his lungs out, his wings flicker because of the intense laugh. I file that away for later, just in case. “Avoiding shifting,” I answer, then immediately look around to make sure we’re alone. “The waterfall will drown out anything we say,” Marion assures me. I notice a book nearby on the grassy hill. She follows my gaze, then leans over to pick it up. She flashes me the cover: Key Differences Between Star-Kin and Werewolves. “Just a little light reading,” she quips. Something in me roils at the idea that she was supposed to teach me how to read. “I only learned to read in the past few months. The Alpha Prince taught me.”

The morning Sena arrived at the manor with a bound manuscript under her arm and set it on the kitchen counter without speaking, Mara set down her coffee and waited. "It is about Rael," Sena said. "And your mother. And what it was like to know them both and to carry the knowledge for thirty years." She looked at the manuscript on the counter with the expression of someone looking at something they have lived inside for so long that seeing it from the outside still required adjustment. My eyes drift over to the frozen woman in the corner of the room. She floats several feet above the ground, mouth open in shock, her eyes wide. It's an expression I never tire of looking at. "Your wife thought she could stop me," I say. "And look what happened to her. She's no more than a stuffed deer on my wall now." I reconsider it and laugh. "Well ... maybe she's a bit better off. She's still alive, after all. Or does that make her worse off?" The prisoner's face twists into a look of disgust. "You're sick."

She brought out a little key out of her gown as she opened the door. She went to the little library set apart for Lia as she began to ransack through it … “Fuck ! But Gladdy told me the book is right at the top corner of the shelf” She muttered loudly as she checked through the books on the shelf. She was still checking through it in a hurry as a little book dropped, its pages flipped open revealing another book placed inside. Marietta's eyes caught the book as she took it. “Yeah, I’ve got this …” She said, still ransacking the shelf

I knew how much he wanted me to be with Ariel, and the last thing I ever wanted was to disappoint him.
