It was the dead of night by the time I dragged my body from the dilapidated warehouse on the outskirts of Seattle back to our estate. "We need to move." Chaos swirled around us as students scrambled down the stairs. In the rush, Mark suddenly appeared from the end of the hall. His eyes locked entirely onto Maya. He grabbed her hand firmly. "Chloe, come on. I know a shortcut through the side garage before they perimeter the backyard. Follow me." Maya looked back at me for a split second, her eyes filled with guilt and warning, before Mark pulled her down the back steps, successfully slipping through and out of sight.

The watch had since become a token of our love, and he never took it off aside from bath and bed.
