"I never thought anything like this could exist." I can't help but smile at her excitement. It's refreshing, considering the nightmare we've been living in for the past few days. "That's amazing," I say, impressed despite myself. "I know, right?" Wendy says, her eyes sparkling. "And look at that one over there. I think it's a dragon egg." I follow her gaze to a stall where a man with a bushy beard is haggling with a customer over a large, iridescent egg that's perched on a velvet cushion.

I turned only to see Matilda sleeping peacefully in my arms, her black wavy hair covering some part of her face, and her pale white skin glowing effortlessly in the morning sun. I never believed anyone could change me this much, but here I am getting all cozy with her, wanting to spend each waking moment with her, craving to be by her side and to see her beautiful smiles. The tiny, timid girl that I welcomed into my world came with a bulldozer, breaking down every last one of my defenses till there was nothing left to hide in.

Velma sympathized, her tone sincere. ‎“Oh it hurt Velma but it equally taught me a very crucial lesson.
