Ainsley’s breathing became erratic, his eyes flickering with something dark, an emotion Mavis couldn’t decipher. Coldness swept over his features, turning his handsome face into a mask of frost. Elijah, who had been standing nearby, noticed the shift in Ainsley’s demeanor before anyone else.
