Drake and I slowly climbed the hill up to the manor. The horses where starting to tire, and I can't say we faired any better. We slept on the cold hard ground last night. No matter how we laid, it was still uncomfortable. So we basically stayed up most the night until the sun rose. Not a word was said between us on the descent. The only sound of hooves clopping on loose dirt filled the air. The trees lining the dirt pathway swayed lightly with the warm breeze. Despite the warm weather I still sat slumped in my saddle, my eyes barely staying open. We rounded the last bend, the manor coming into view. If she was feeling any bit of distress, she was hiding it behind a well built wall. I was starting to give up hope that we would ever find him, until a bought of coughing grabbed my attention. It sounded all to familiar. I quickly grabbed Seria's hand, not really thinking about anything other than Maxwell. Racing down the halls, I listened and followed the rough and wet sounding coughing until we came to an opening. It was a round stone dome with chains hanging from the walls and ceiling. Two steel cells sat on either side of the door way, and in one of them propped against the wall, was a terrible looking Maxwell.

And I was ready. Before anyone could move, the door slammed open behind us. The noise was deafening. My heart skipped a beat as I turned to see who had entered the room. Maximo. He stood there, tall and imposing, with a cruel smirk on his face. His presence filled the room like a suffocating fog, and I felt the weight of his gaze on me. He was here to finish what he had started—to destroy everything Daniil and I had fought for. “You’re too late,” he said, his voice smooth, mocking. “The Varkanin legacy ends here. And with it, everything you’ve worked for.”

*A New Collection The interrogation room smelled like old coffee and bleach. Fluorescent lights buzzed overhead, throwing a sickly pale glow over the metal table bolted to the floor. One wall held the big one-way mirror, dark and watchful. Max Hale sat handcuffed to the chair, legs spread, trying to look bored instead of pissed off. Serena dropped her hand and walked inside with her head bowed. The servant rushed to bring a dry towel and rubbed it over her head. She looked like a lifeless doll, and eventually even her eyes closed. Blair placed his umbrella at the door and changed his shoes at the foyer before walking in, "I know the Maxwell you're talking about, the president of the Mercenary Society, a celebrity in Sin City, and the hand-picked successor at Harrington's family headquarters." He took out a cigarette and was about to light it, but thought of something and put it down.

It was another long hallway on the other side, this time the sides were lit with torches, which was strange, given its abandoned state. The walls were dusty and covered with cobwebs, and the paintings were barely recognizable due to it being slashed in the middle with some sort of blade. As she continued to traverse the dark and dingy hallway, she stepped on a piece of paper, the crunching sound catching her attention. She picked it up and saw it was a journal entry from possibly one of the servants in the mansion based on the language used, but it was barely legible, but what she could make out of it made her heart jump.
