Chapter Three Hundred And Sixty-Four Maya's heart leapt for joy as she discovered that what she had in mind was what Zaire was planning to do. She breathed quickly, as her face became bright with a hint this pride and happiness. She could not suppress the joy that burst forth from her heart, as her lips curved into a malicious grin. Zaire stared at her with contempt, taking note of the joy that almost seemed to be bursting forth from Maya. She was almost irritating him with her happiness so he turned away from her and faced the front once more.

Three children crowded around a bowl of shaved ice. Maya laughed so hard she nearly dropped her spoon. Austin was trying to rescue a runaway strawberry. Selene leaned comfortably against Nerissa's shoulder. Nerissa smiled and wiped a smear of chocolate from Austin's cheek without thinking. Zane stopped walking. For one impossible moment... it looked like the life he had thrown away. His hand reached for the café door. Before he could push it open— Maya looked up. Their eyes met through the glass. She smiled brightly. Then she waved. "Mr. Zane!"

Maya woke up feeling sore all over her body, she sat upright on the strange bed trying to figure out what happened. She turned to see an unfamiliar figure on the other side of the bed sleeping soundly, she gasped and quickly had a flashback of what happened. Maya is a young beautiful lady who grew up without her parents, she stays with her aunt who trained her for college but couldn't further because of a lack of money. Maya decided to struggle on her own by going for a mini job to gather money for her school, she got a job in a well-known clubhouse as a waitress along with her best friend Mia, both have known each other right from school.

“A blue bear?” “Y-yeah,” I lie again. “Might just have looked weird in the rain.” I can tell Maya doesn’t believe me in how she tries to eye the space behind my back. Her nose twitches again and I hold my breath. Please don’t let her pick up on the zareth’s scent. I don’t want any trouble. “Well,” Maya cracks her shoulders. “If everything is okay here, then I suppose I will head home.” I force a smile. “You do that and Maya? Thank you for checking in with me.”

At the sound of my seatbelt clicking Dmitry left the driveway in a hurry as he drove us to the overcrowded mall. ‘Text me when you’re done’ he said as he walked away from Sasha and I. ‘Where to Zayka?’ Sasha asked.
