I kept running with no destination in mind, still shocked, and jumped over a log shifting in mid-air. I was unable to comprehend anything else, my mind a mess, Ronan's voice echoing in my head. I was growling so much and running so fast that everything around me was a blur, 'Mates? They're mates? Zannicus is Ronan's mate? What kind of cruel, twisted fate is this?!!' Overwhelmed by anger, ignoring the burning sensation in my eyes, I let out a roar and increased my pace to the extent that I was sure I could outran a train.

Whenever he looked at me like that, I felt nothing but goosebumps all over my skin, and my body was suddenly warmer than usual. “If you’re sure, we can start. There are water bottles all over the maze, so you don’t have to worry about being dehydrated. I’ll give you a twenty-minute head start because I am a very fast runner, and I will catch you if it’s less than that. All you need to focus on is getting to the end of the maze.” I agreed. I stood there to catch a deep breath and to decipher whether it was a good idea to play games with a monster, but I ultimately decided it was worth a shot. What was the worst that could happen anyway?

___________________ Daeira POV I stood at the edge of the maze, arms folded over my chest, my heart thumping like a war drum beneath my ribs. The sun was hanging low now, casting everything in that buttery gold light that made even the bloodied and bruised look a little magical. I couldn’t help the way my foot bounced anxiously as I waited. Then, movement. A figure stumbled out of the shimmering finish line. Then another. And another.

### Kelsey's POV Walking out of the gym with Mario felt like a small step toward reclaiming a part of myself that I had locked away. The night air was cool and refreshing, and as we headed to Mario's house, I felt lighter, like a burden had been momentarily lifted from my shoulders. "Some of the guys wanted me to ask if you would come race again," Mario mumbled as we stepped into his house. "You know it's been a while, dude." Racing. It had been ages since I last felt the adrenaline rush of a race, the roar of engines, and the sheer exhilaration of speeding down a track. It was another sanctuary of mine, a place where the world melted away, leaving only the need for speed.

That would be Josh and Azael, and I know that those two are racing to get back to their mates so I know that we’ll never catch up to them. It gets darker as we run further into the forest where the trees block out most of the moonlight. My shifter vision comes in handy then as Derrick and I tear through the forest. We’re still neck and neck but the run has only just begun. If I can just keep pace with him then I think that I can pull ahead once we get in sight of the finish line.

POV Dean We were covered with blood. I stared at Willow, even like this, she was beautiful. She looked like a vengeful goddess and I loved it. She crushed that bastard's evil heart and dropped it just as a voice was heard. "Mine" Lee said as he struggled to his feet. I looked at him in confusion and then to Willow. Were they somehow mates now? I sighed as my stomach dropped. There would be no way I would be able to win her back now.

Oh my, I'm in the rogues'. I began moving back, step by step. Then I suddenly turned and ran. Running through the woods, back from the direction I was coming. Running as fast as my leg could carry me. I went left this time around. My legs and arms started to throb, I did not stop running through the thorn woods. I just need to get away from here. The trees tearing my fur, I could care less. The only thing screaming in my head is survival. I don't wanna die yet. Scratch what I said earlier about dying.

Mia I finally stepped out of my room after he had returned my suitcase and left without a word. Maybe I was wrong about Hazel… but why does he tense up every time her name comes up? I limped toward the counter to fix myself something to eat, and there he was…leaning against the counter, his gaze fixed on me, watching me closely, like I might run off at any second. His stare alone was enough to weaken my legs. “Ahh!” I whimpered when a sharp pain shot through my knee as I tried to lift it. That’s when I realized I hadn’t treated the injury since the day I got hurt. I thought it was fine, but now the pain was unbearable. I could barely move my leg.

My bare feet slammed against the forest’s ground, branches whipping my arms mercilessly. Unable to think straight, I ran, hearing only one name pounding through my skull: “Cassian. Cassian. Cassian!” As I sprinted through dark woods blindly, the path was unclear, almost confusing. But I pushed forward, Alpha Sebastian's amused voice rolling through trees like smoke. “Good girl. Let's see how long you can run!” My rival instincts kicked in as adrenaline exploded through my veins, fueling my courage. I ran without stopping, terror driving my legs. Vines snagged my ankles, twigs sliced my skin, and the cold dirt stung with every step, but I didn’t.

Things were going good and he was feeling good. They turned the corner and the hotel was in sight. Zain glanced up at him with a grin, then took off. Joy jumped through his veins and he answered the challenge after giving Zain a three second lead. Zain laughed as Wren passed him. Wren beat him, easily, to the hotel, but Zain only grinned at his loss. “One day I’ll beat you,” Zain panted. “We should train for a marathon.” His hand brushed down Wren’s arm as he passed and the warm feeling of family filled his chest. It was nice having another wolf so casually trade scents.
