The New Age King // Book 2

The New Age King // Book 2

Sara needs me now. My claws dig into the soil, and my muscles basically explode as my body launches forward. The wind stings my eyes as I race through the trees, but I ignore it. The pain in my back is all I can focus on. Nothing else matters. Even if I were killed right now, I would still keep moving. I am invincible until Sara is back in my arms. I get to a rather large hill, and my nose finds the entrance to a cave in a flash. Sara's blood is practically burning my nose now, but the scent of someone else's blood is mixed with hers. A strong smoke smell is also in the air, which explains Marina's injuries.

Great quicker read overall. There were unexpected plot twists and well developed banter throughout. The author brings life to different attitudes that aren’t commonly written into novels, which I loved. My only note is that I WISH the author would write more about the lives of Sara & Tab’s pups!

Escaping The World: Lost in Book (book 1)

Escaping The World: Lost in Book (book 1)

I dump my bag on the floor and read through the shelf while pulling books out and mumble as I go. ‘Even a book can be dangerous in the wrong hands.’ ‘Ignite.’ ‘Hell is empty and all the devils are here.’ ‘You’ll make bad choices. Sometimes you’ll choose the best of bad ones.’ ‘Tuesday is Fucked.’ ‘Everything’s a game. And now it’s your turn.’ I have a stack of about 10 books before I abruptly stop. "Next isle." I say and we walk up and down the library isles. I climb and jump to get books off of shelves and Aidan has to catch me a couple of times when I fell.

The Reaver Chronicles: Raphael (Book 2)

The Reaver Chronicles: Raphael (Book 2)

What could it hurt, after all? "I am a Reaver," I purred, my voice low and smooth. Roxy's eyes widened, a flicker of surprise dancing across her face. I was certain she had stumbled upon the chapters detailing my kind in the book she'd been reading. Three entire chapters were devoted to Reavers, and they were nestled near the beginning of the book. Given that she was now halfway through, I assumed she had already devoured those particular pages.

The Regime (Book 2 of Kendra's Journey)

The Regime (Book 2 of Kendra's Journey)

Pulling on the reins to turn her horse to the point that the beast raised its front legs high into the air as it did a full ninety degree turn on its back haunches, its protest echoed through the trees as she urged it to move at a speed that would have challenged the best of race horses. The gelding seemed to inherently understand the urgency of the situation and gave Kendra its all as they barreled into unknown territory at break-neck speed. More than once, she had to grab the saddle to maintain her seating as the gelding weaved its way through thick foliage and between tree trunks. Little by little, the sound of the cyborgs pursuing them faded. Although it was something that she’d wished

The Crowned White Wolf (Book Two)

The Crowned White Wolf (Book Two)

I put up three fingers pointing at each of three men individually to investigate the tunnel that grandmother and I would not be going down. Grandmother, one warrior, and I head to the right, while the other three warriors go straight. The walk down the new corridor seems more like a maze, it turns right then left, shocking us with a creature that jumps out spitting fire. I conjured up a fireball in retaliation. However, my grandmother puts her hand on my arm mind-linking me and the warrior. It is just an illusion. We continue to walk forward through the tunnels of fright mares. Once we have saved the children, we can make it into a Halloween extravaganza.

Lavender Girl

Lavender Girl

This is the first time I have seen it in the book. Ravyn spends some time reading and then comes up to the surface for a full rest while the maze is being rearranged. The first day of book searching ended with Ravyn finding 20 books, but she began to feel that it was getting harder and harder to find one when there were fewer books. The next day, she practiced using Airtech with Jae. Then she came back to the underwater maze with Erios guiding her from time to time. Days and nights passed until the 12th training day, as Ravyn sat, wiping her hair dry while chatting with Tisha during a break in the gym. Ravyn had finally mustered up her courage to ask the question she had been curious about s

Jasper: Love and Monsters (Book 2 of Jasper)

Jasper: Love and Monsters (Book 2 of Jasper)

The moon hung in the sky like a brilliant, oversized flashlight. Lila leaned her forehead against the window pane. It felt cool and soothing. Peering into the illuminated night, she looked out onto the mountain in hopes of spotting Marcus and his pack approaching the castle. She’d had no word from Ben about the rescue Jasper and the werewolves were planning for her, but this would be the prime time for them to do it. She closed her eyes and tried to visualize Jasper in his wolf form as he raced through the woods with the pack, but the pain in her back wouldn’t allow her mind to focus.

Frequently Asked Questions

I tore through the first Maze Runner book and dove into 'The Scorch Trials' immediately, desperate for more of that breathless sprint. Honestly, it feels like a completely different race. The setting shifts from the claustrophobic, puzzling Glade to a wide-open, hostile desert world. Some people hate that—they miss the contained mystery of the Maze. I get it. For me, the change worked because the stakes felt bigger, messier. It’s less about solving a clever architectural trap and more about surviving a broken planet, which brings in a raw desperation that the first book only hinted at.

Thomas and the Gladers are on the run, constantly hunted, and the rules of their world keep shifting. You learn more about WICKED, but everything is filtered through their propaganda and lies. That constant uncertainty, the feeling that you can’t trust any new piece of information, is exhausting in a way the first book wasn’t. It’s a different kind of tension. If you loved the concrete ‘solve-the-puzzle-to-survive’ vibe, this might frustrate you. But if you’re invested in the characters and want to see them pushed to their absolute limits in a world that’s actively trying to grind them down, it’s a brutal, compelling next step. The ending left me feeling utterly hollow, in a good way—like I’d been running through the sand right alongside them.
