"I’m not really into movies. I’m more into a documentary about innovations, stuff like that." "Oh, my God. Get a life, Ethan. You have to watch this!" Megan said, and she played Titanic on the TV. Michelle chuckled, leaning her head on his shoulder. "This movie is beautiful." "More beautiful than you?" he whispered. "Stop," she said, feeling her cheeks flushing at his overused pick-up line. In the first hour of the movie, they were all immersed in the plot. However, in the second hour, Michelle couldn’t help but cringe watching Megan and Andrew making out on the other couch.

Megan was a jovial person and Rebecca will do her good talking to her. As I knew it was a direct attack on me, I reacted in my defense. “I know I’ve kind of neglected you since I lost my mom, but...” “You don’t have to apologize, you’re not to blame. It’s better late than never, right? Now, where’s Miss Rebecca?” she interrupted me without a chance to further explain. “She’s in the living room. "Mr. Lloyd? This is Megan, Renee's manager. She's been in an accident and was rushed to the hospital. She's asking to see you. Do you have time?" "An accident?" Finley frowned. He had no energy left for Renee or her endless drama. For the first time, he felt like choosing Claire over Renee—a choice he'd never made before. "How bad is it?" "Well..." Megan hesitated before continuing, "Pretty bad. You know how it is—Renee's a celebrity. Any accident could be serious. If she ends up scarred, her career might be over. She's been unconscious, calling for you. We didn't know what else to do. If you're available, could you come by?"

Larry's pov I stood in the center of the mobile command unit, a blacked-out van idling two blocks away from the Trent Club, and watched the video for the fourteenth time. The screen of my phone was cracked from when I’d gripped it too hard, a jagged line running through Megan’s face. In the video, she looked pale, her hair a mess, standing against a featureless gray wall. Her voice was steady, but it was the kind of steady that only comes from someone holding their breath so they don't scream.

I took a slow breath and looked at the receptionist. “I need access to your surveillance footage from that period.” She hesitated. “I’m afraid we’ll need to get approval from the manager.” “Please do.” “And we may also need police authorization.” “My best friend is missing.” I cut her off, my voice steady, though my hands were shaking. “It’s been a month. There’s no sign of her, alive or dead. Your hotel may be one of the last places she was seen. Do you really think your manager won’t cooperate?”

This one was even louder than the last. "Are you deaf, Megan? Watch this video right now and give me a real explanation!" Megan forced herself to be brave. She looked at her father, whose eyes were wide with anger. Standing beside him was her mother, Ursula, looking at her with total disappointment. With trembling hands, Megan took the phone from her father and hit play. As she watched the footage from her bachelorette party, she let out a long, heavy breath. Her heart slowed down. It wasn't a sex tape.
