Then, out of nowhere, the silence breaks.
At first, it’s just a low hum, barely there, but it grows fast. It turns into this jumble of weird sounds—scraping, whispering, something like wind but not really. None of it makes sense. It’s like a dozen things happening at once, overlapping and clashing, too fast to catch or figure out.
My head starts pounding, the noise swirling around me like it’s alive. I can’t tell where it’s coming from, or if it’s even real. It feels like it’s inside me, like the sounds are crawling under my skin.
