With a casual wave, they turned and left. I placed the music box back on the table. Then, I picked up the non-profit organization documents and the suitcase I had packed long ago and walked toward the door. Just as I reached it, I received a voice message from Giovanni. "Chichi, Luigi and I have prepared a new surprise for you in a few days. You'll love it." I smiled, thinking, "Giovanni, haven't you given me enough surprises already?" Before boarding the plane, I sent him everything—photos of Maria's pregnancy report, screenshots of her social media posts, and the medical report proving that my dyslexia had been cured.

The message notification from Robert stared back at me, and I eagerly tapped on it. The message was filled with stickers of "Call me" plastered all over. I couldn't help but giggle; it was so typical of Robert to use stickers to make his messages more urgent and playful. He knew it would make me call him immediately. Each sticker was a different bright color, some with exaggerated hand gestures pointing to the phone icon, others with animated characters jumping up and down. It was a lighthearted touch that momentarily lifted the weight of the morning off my shoulders.

The two did not get along all that well, from what I understood. Double-checking my phone, I could tell that Kain hadn’t seen my message yet. He rarely looked at his phone during events like this, but I had wanted to at least exhaust all my options before throwing in the towel. If I couldn’t find him personally, then maybe he’d see the message. That was my hope, anyway, but so far, luck was not on my side.
