Paws press against the stone floor, massive and tipped with claws. Silver-white fur spreads across my skin like wildfire consuming dry grass. My spine extends and reforms with audible cracks. My face pushes forward, elongating and changing shape entirely. Teeth sharpen into fangs and canines extend until they're weapons.

Slowly, the trembling becomes more pronounced, her form starting to blur at the edges. Her fingers elongate, her nails sharpening into claws. Her breathing comes in gasps, but she doesn’t stop. “That’s it,” I say, my voice steady and calm. “You’re doing it." The transformation is slow and uneven, but it’s happening.
