I’ll tell you everything later.” I look at Jesse for a moment with wide eyes, but then am distracted from my shock when Jackson strides over and grabs me to him, lifting me high up into his arms and sealing his mouth to mine in a determined kiss. I work hard to stifle the moan that blooms in my throat as I wrap my arms around his neck and pull him close, deepening the kiss, giving myself over to it.

The intensity between us grew, a spark that started in my chest, as it had before for him, only this time it grew with each long look and his gentle fingers pressed against my wrists. He leaned in and kissed my nose. He hovered there and I didn't move. He tilted his head, kissing my lips. I remained still, kissing him back. It was a light kiss, but he kept it going soft and steady. His tongue teased my lips and I welcomed it. He made a delightful noise and leaned into me, tongue darting into my mouth. I leaned far back trying not to fall. My hand searched for something to hold to, I grabbed hold of his shoulder and then the back of his neck.

The one who marched in here, questioning me with so much authority.” She laughs right into my face, the sound of it light and a little embarrassed. I catch a whiff of her scent from her hair that's fallen on her face, dangling somewhere close to my nose. Then her finger starts tracing lazy patterns on my chest. “She’s still here. She just… has to want to come out.” Rolling her back to the side without detaching, I catch her chin gently, tilting her face up to mine, and kiss her deep, slow, and heavy. The taste of her goes straight to my head like the strongest liquor.
