Something about a bridge being nearby is the only thing I can remember. Suddenly, the world swirls and I’m standing on that bridge with Kendric. “I fell off the cliff and then ended up here. This was our third life, for sure.” Kendric looks over at me with a confused expression. “Are you seeing this too?” A ticking clock sounds from somewhere nearby and I look around to see where it’s coming from. “Do you hear that?” A voice comes out of nowhere from somewhere above us. “Midnight is coming. Run while you can.”

The city glow hit the planes of his jaw, making him look like he’d been carved out of the night itself. “Call me Midnight,” he said. His voice was low, carrying a weight that made her skin prickle. “And I know exactly who you are, Lila. I know you touch yourself every night. I know you lie here imagining a stranger who comes in and tells you what to do. I know what you crave when nobody is looking.” He leaned against the wall, his gaze dropping from her face to the glistening toy still inside her. His eyes didn’t waver. There was no shame in his look, only a terrifyingly calm observation.

Sofia The Midnight Lounge was Moonveil’s crown jewel—a place whispered about in glossy magazines and exclusive circles, but never openly advertised. A single black door stood on an unmarked street, guarded by a man in a sharp suit whose gaze assessed everything in a second flat. Once inside, the world shifted. Amber light spilled across polished marble, the ceilings lost in a haze of gold and shadow. The air hummed with low jazz and quiet power. "No, no, no don't give me that shock look Darling." Who wouldn't be shock to see her here?

"I was overwhelmed." "'Excited' is the right term for you." "You know me well, don't you?" And she made me hear her friendly chuckle. She stretches five fingers of her in front and a tiny sparkling light floats. "To welcome you home, I present this to you." The spark flies at the speed of a bullet towards the lake, the water splashes, and when the sparkling light reaches the middle, it climbs upward to the sky with the same speed. A few seconds of silence happened when the night sky was illuminated with colorful shades of glitters exploding and falling like snow consecutively.

“I couldn’t sleep… I was looking for a book.” With little choice, Sparkle walked into the room and took a quick look around. This room was gorgeous during the day, but at night, with flickering shadows floating around... it was purely amazing. Really, was there anything prettier than a firelight? When she shifted her gaze back to him, Sparkle realized the glow from the fire shining in his dark brown eyes was nearly hypnotic. Which was a silly thought to have, so she pushed it away fast. “Would you mind terribly if I borrow one of your books? TV is just so boring and…”

she says. But this doesn’t settle well with me because I want it to end today. “Midnight? Can't you do it now? I can't endure another sleepless night,” I let this out after taking a rough gulp. “The forces at play are stronger at midnight. Trust me, waiting is essential for the spell to be effective,” Namala explains.
