Zora held it out to me, "this belongs to you." I gingerly held the book between my fingers in fear it would disintegrate to ash if I was too rough. The leather on this book had been embroidered with purple thread—the image of a howling wolf's head being formed. If I listened closely enough, I could make out faint whispers coming from the book—a cacophony of different sounds urging me to do one thing: open the book. "The wings called to him the way the wolf calls to you," Zora explained. She moved to exit the room with one last statement, "Only one person would make a better queen than you and when it comes time for them to rule, you will be proud."

Reina chuckled and replied, "Pfft, then you're more than welcome to my home, kiddo." Amber's face lit up with excitement, and she skipped ahead to join Lana and Kyle, who had already finished dressing up. Lana, dressed in a deep green formal dress with a square neckline, spaghetti straps with a beaded tassel and high slit, turned towards Reina and did a twirl. "Pleased to meet you, Ashlyn Woods. I'm Lana Mactokins from the Rosian organization." Amber couldn't contain her excitement and commented, "Purr slayyyy!"

4 YEAR LATER THIRD POV As years passed , Athena had completed her training. She had quarreled with Ice first because he didn't want her to complete her training. But in the end she won the argument . No one knew the owners of those names but they were horrified of them

Something about her gaze lingered, sharp and probing, before she ordered a flat white and vanished into the morning crowd. She ordered a marocchino—medium, with whipped cream—her manner suggesting she hadn’t time for more than brief civilities. The elderly woman seemed to be hurrying somewhere, her movements clipped yet unhurried. I placed a few sugar cubes on the saucer, separate, as she preferred.

I sometimes think this is a new tradition brought in recently with mates getting married as once you’re marked you have a bond for life and this is normally only broken when one of the pair dies, but this has been changed again with more mate pairs rejecting each other either from the beginning or when they no longer want to be with the other person later down the line. “Are you happy? The surprised expressions soon changed into scornful when her mesmerizing blue eyes met my enraged purple orbs. “I, Elara Alinsky, the princess of the Crimson Moon pack, reject-” Her words remained unspoken as the Luna Queen arrived and struck her cheek. Grabbing Elara’s elbow, I shoved her to my chest and stood in front of her mother whose eyes were blazing with the color of her wolf’s yellowish-brown eyes. Luca fought to come out but I dodged him back and shunned him out though I could feel my hands turning into claws and my nails elagonating.

What it must be like to be so excited by the world around you. “You raise an interesting question, Maia. Why would you think to call me a Queen and not a King?” I ask curiously. “Clearly she recognises beauty when she sees it,” Sebastian smirks. Maia giggles shaking her head, “A King and Queen rule a kingdom, silly,” she says like it’s obvious. Sebastian squats down beside me, “But a King is a man. If two men were to rule, should they not be King and King?” Sebastian asks.

"The only reason I am letting you traitor go is because the queen wants to speak with you privately. You're not even worthy to be called her daughter anymore." Maika stared at him, confused. "The queen? My mother?" She asked, trying to be sure she was hearing right. "Yes," The second guard replied quickly. "The one you killed without a second thought. Hopefully, you would piss her off and she would give us the permission to do whatever we like with you. You would make a good test subject for our new skull tricks." Maika had no idea what was going on but from the tone of their voices, she knew that they were mad at her. And they had said something about a queen! Her mother?

The previous Queens mark was snakes, hard to imagine
