Zip tying my wrists together, Mike said to the others, “Be ready to leave as soon as he gets back. Blue Crescent is on our tail.”
As if on cue, Mike’s dad climbed inside. He didn’t have a scratch on him. Even where I had hit him with rocks had healed over. “Go,” Mike’s dad said in a gruff command, hitting the side of the van. The engine rumbled to life and jolted into motion. Again, pain raced up my arm when I bumped into Mike. I flinched, expecting him to hit me or at least say something nasty, but he didn’t even glance in my direction. His eyes stayed on his dad.
