He was staring at the side of my face with a heavy, calculating look. "You okay?" Mercer asked. I forced my shoulders to drop. “Yeah. Sorry. Just thinking.” Mercer hummed like he didn’t fully buy it. “Thinking hard enough to disconnect from reality, or should I be worried?” A beat. Then he added, lighter, “If there’s something in your mind, you can tell us. Sadly, we don’t have your little mind-reader gift.” I let out a short breath and shook my head. “It’s nothing.” Mercer’s expression softened slightly, his voice dropping into something steadier. “Alright. Just make sure you stay focused, Tiffany. We need you sharp.”

"Even Ruby failed. What can you do as an assistant?!" I pressed the broadcast button, my voice carrying into the isolation chamber through the speakers. "Commander Morris, can you hear me? I said as I crossed my arms in front of my chest. "I love mint choco." He said and I stopped. "Disgusting!" I hissed and he laughed. "Why is that disgusting? It's good." "I feel like brushing my teeth when I eat that flavour." I shook my head. "Do you have a pet?" He asked. "I have a black labrador at home. How about you?" "Really? I have a labrador too!" He said and I turned to him completely surprised. "Millie.. her name." "Blue.. his name." I turned to him and looked at him straight into his eyes.

Words fired out at machine-gun speed. "Why is the human looking at me? Does she like me? Does she hate me? Does she like or hate me? Why is she still circling me? "Will she nuzzle me? Can I nuzzle her? Does she like me? Does she hate me? What—" Her thoughts were annoyingly loud and chaotic. I pretended to circle her a few more times, but mentally, I was drowning in her psychic high-speed rambling. Rather than overthinking, I decided to go on the offensive and deploy some cunning tricks.

“The others, six of them, were still in their tank. No results. They could be dead any time soon.” Praxis’s mind calmed down a bit. He didn’t know but even though the drug had slowed down his brain, he was now able to comprehend everything. He saw that as an advantage. The doctor seemed to be magnanimous enough to say a lot, and Praxis saw that as an opportunity to gather helpful information while his body was in its relaxed state. “So, what this all is for? A government order?” Praxis asked, voice was expressionless and hoarse and tired.

Fernandez was so excited to receive this message because his friend had been away for over two years, in these two years, he had been out of communication to avoid distraction due to the training he went for. Andrew has been away in Amsterdam studying the human mind, a course he chose to study after the death of his mother and two sisters, now he is done and is back to see his friends and loved ones.
