The sane, logical part of my brain screamed at me to pack my bags, lock my door, and run as far away from this house as possible before I became collateral damage. But the fear wasn't paralyzing me. Instead, it was doing something twisted. It was fueling a dark, burning fire right in the pit of my stomach. The terrifying reality that Adrian Cross was a ruthless, cold-blooded monster was warring violently with my deep, undeniable addiction to him. And the addiction was winning. After I manage to steady myself a little, I begin speaking without turning back. “I, Marielle Cross, accept your rejection,” I say carefully, making sure my voice doesn’t tremble. My body trembles as the rejection pain hits me like a sledgehammer. I stand rooted to the spot as the bond snaps. My ever-silent wolf growls silently before going hollow.

CHAPTER SEVENTEEN LEXA POINT OF VIEW I walked next to Cross as we left the meeting hall, my mind still trying to understand what had just happened. Free. I was free from Damian. Tomorrow I would marry Cross, the Alpha's firstborn son. "Are you okay?" Cross asked, his voice low so only I could hear. "Yes," I said, though my heart still beat too fast. "It's just... a lot to take in." He nodded, understanding in his strange golden-red eyes. "Do you want some time alone? To think?"

Cruz said, finally heading in the right direction. “Okay then, it’s settled. For now, Cruz, know that I have formed an alliance with Eclipse Moon Pack already. Of course, I am hoping to form one with you as well, but if you are to ever attack them our alliance would be broken.” Cruz stood from his chair in slight fury, unable to contain himself. I did the same, but of course it didn't have the same effect with my short stature. It didn’t stop me from staring him down with squinted eyes. “I understand,” he gritted out, meeting Dane’s eyes behind me. I guess he thought he had more pull with Dane than I did. Which is pretty stupid, considering I am his mate, and the future mother to his child.

"If you embarrass Levi in front of the executives today, he will make it his personal mission to destroy you. Just keep your head down." I pulled my arm away from her. "I don't do well with keeping my head down." "Dante—" "I'll see you later, Mom." I walked out of the kitchen before she could start another lecture. I didn't care about playing the obedient stepbrother. If Levi wanted a war, he was going to get one. I drove my car to the corporate headquarters downtown. The lobby was all marble and glass, filled with people in expensive gray suits moving around like ants. I checked in at the front desk, got my executive badge, and took the private elevator up to the top floor.

Mikhail cross could be Eric Draven’s twin with his rocker vibe, dark hair, and brooding good looks. It’s nearly three in the morning when my eyes pop open, and I realized that I’m passed out on Amara’s couch. The other girls left earlier, leaving Haley and me behind. Haley must have left after I fell asleep because I don’t see her anywhere. Rising from the couch, I see that Amara and Kell are lying cuddled on the bed. There’s no way that I’m sticking around while they’re both asleep, so I gather my things and sneak out the door before they wake up and tell me to stay.

"Ringo, I love you. Thank you for being my mate." Although he was already halfway to lalaland, Ringo smiled angelically. "I love you too." Michael watched his lover sleep and smiled. His dark eyes locked onto mine and he smiled wider. Like he finally found something interesting. My wolf snarled. For the first time in my life, I wanted to destroy someone. And his name was Aiden Cross. I left without looking at anyone. I knew my father would be angry with me because of it but right now I didn't care. I couldn't tolerate seeing that jerk’s face anymore.
