He was wearing dark shades, so I couldn’t see much of his face. He made a small gesture, and just like that, the tall one opened the back door and practically shoved me in.

I bet he was the one being auctioned yet his aura still gave off dominance despite his hands being handcuffed. “We’re just on time. That’s him,” Kyle whispered. Huh? Putting aside the fact that he was tall and physically fit, he was not as scary as I expected him to be. Was it just me stereotyping? I mean… Since Kyle mentioned that Xavier Hawthorn was a mercenary, I expected that he would scare me the first time I set my eyes on him.

His infected hand was wrapped tight in duct tape—a makeshift cast to keep the wound closed. "Fresh meat!" Torque shouted from his VIP box—a suspended crane cabin overlooking the arena. "The Big Man says he lifts heavy. Let's see if he hits heavy." A gate on the far side of the Pit groaned open. The crowd roared. Walking out of the shadows wasn't a man. It was a Mining Droid. Specifically, a "Demolisher Class" unit. It stood seven feet tall, painted hazard yellow, with thick armor plating. Its right arm ended in a rotary rock-drill. Its left arm was a massive hydraulic hammer.

“Who out there is feeling a little twisted tonight?” The crowd cheered in response, knowing it meant Sinners was about to treat them to their most energetic anthem, “Twisted.” Eric thudded his bass drum with the introductory beats of the song. Sed roared through the first measure. When he screamed the first note, something thick and hot poured down the back of his throat. He choked on the liquid, covering his mouth with one hand. When he drew his hand away, it was covered in blood. Blood? He stared at his fingers in disbelief. They blurred out of focus.

As I neared the hallway, I could see a few people making their way down in the other direction. Piper leaned closer to me. "They are some of her minions," She whispered to me. Piper lifted her hand, and the few people in the hallway hit the walls. I waited for a minute, and none of them moved. She must have knocked them out. The hallway looked like an old dungeon in a movie. The walls were made out of stone. The stone was dirty and looked like it had moss growing on it. Lights were hanging from the top, but they looked like old string lights dangling.

She stands up from the bed, glaring at Lauren. Lauren knew what was coming for her, so she shifted back a little bit. “Don't you dare move,” Melissa mumbled. Is this a revenge for what happened last time?” “Have you too met?” Kate asked, totally confused. “Look Kate, my name is Liam, Liam Browne, the heir of the Browne family. And I don’t know how the hell I am in this woman’s body. After an assassin tried to kill me, the next thing I know was I opened my eyes in your body” Liam stated, his feminine voice calmer than earlier.
