At the end of the walkway, there was just one door—a door that led to a room I hadn’t entered since I first arrived. I pushed open the door to the room that held stone statues towering hundreds of feet above me. I stared at the one in the center—Selene, the goddess of the moon and creator of shifters. They had a similar building in the Capitol open for everyone to visit, where not only the goddess of the shifters but also those of witches were honored. I circled the room, looking at the other goddesses illuminated by the glass ceiling. Artemis, the goddess of the wilderness, the hunt, and wild animals.

Tristan spoke up. "The goddess of the half moon," Trevor said. They were already away from the curtains, and the statue was already out of sight. Luna pulled back her head and glanced at them. "Half-moon? I thought there was only one moon goddess." Alexa grunted. "You know nothing about Lunar Crest; how are we sure you are not an imposter?" Trevor ignored her. "There are two goddesses of the moon." Adrian chimed. "There are two goddesses of the moon, Altamira and Lunar. Lunar is the head of the moon, and she birthed the Lunar Crest."

Let us all be frustrated. “If I may,” Fredja asks. “Who put up the barrier for your family?” “Our deity,” he answers. “You would know her as the Moon Goddess.” “Oh, you have got to be kidding me,” I mutter. “No offense but I am getting really tired of this goddess.” “Damien!” I look over at her and see her glaring at me. “What?!” I ask. “How can you say that?” she demands. “She is our goddess!”

The question had often formed in my mind but now I had the means to not only ask but receive answers. Ascena bobs her head, “Maybe not a moon goddess, but she will become something when she finally ascends.” “You mean there's more than one moon goddess?” I watch her closely, peeling my eyes from the water. “There are many gods and goddesses, each has their own realm to oversee. She's wearing a simple, black maxi dress with a low neckline that highlights her fair, generous figure. I can sense everyone's aura in here but hers. A wave of recognition washes over me, causing me to freeze in place. It's her. It's the Moon Goddess. Or at least the form she has taken.
