Papa Nightmare turned his attention and gaze to the pitiful figure in front of him.
“Hello, Easy Street. Now that you have seen her again, what do you think of our little plaçage?”
“Papa Nightmare, please,” sobbed the old jazzman.
“Oh, my favorite musician, my court jester. Your job was a simple one. Keep her away from N’Orleans. You couldn’t even do that right, could you? But, of course, I knew you’d fail.”
Papa Nightmare stood. He reached down and in one quick motion grabbed Easy Street by his hair and yanked his entire body off the deck so they could look into each other’s eyes.
