Sierra. Mondays. Don’t you just hate Mondays? I don’t know what it is about this day, but it carries its own cursed energy. Honestly, I’ve never met anyone who truly loves Monday. Even if you love what you do, you can’t help but despise the weight that comes with it. It’s past midday and I’m still struggling to focus. Maybe it’s because I’ve been home for almost two weeks, or maybe it’s just the Monday curse, but my brain refuses to get back in gear.

The next thing arrived in September of the sixteenth year. Don said it on a Monday morning — a Monday with the quality of the Monday-that-was-not-the-accounts-Monday, the other Monday, the Monday of the open day. The accounts Monday was the second Monday of the month, the day Thomas came with the programme and the accounts. The other Mondays were open — no Thomas, no programme, no accounts. Just the open day, the day with nothing scheduled, the day when the building could be whatever it needed to be.

And this time when he said it, it wasn’t the managed answer. It was just true. Monday is done. Tuesday done. Wednesday was coming.
